We're sure everyone has seen or heard news of the veryBASIC HYGIENE TIPS
serious Staph infections occurring at schools in and
around Naperville. While this is something to which
we must be concerned, there is no reason to panic.
The Athletic Department at Naperville Central High School
has reviewed and updated their practices for cleaning
the mats and managing sources of contamination.
HOWEVER, parental help is required to help prevent the spread.
Here are a few things to keep in mind.
* Wrestlers should wear clean clothing to every practice.
* Wrestlers should not share headgear, towels and other
personal items.
* After each practice, the wrestlers should take a shower
(make sure they use soap).
* Ensure cuts and wounds are covered to minimize the chance
that the bacteria enters the body.
* However, because bandages can shift or dislodge with activity when wet,
wrestlers with DRAINING WOUNDS should not participate in practices.
* Wrestlers that leave practice to use the restroom MUST wash
their hands BEFORE returning to the mat.
* As you would with any infection, if you suspect Staph
has developed on your wrestler please visit your
primary care physician.
Please take a few minutes to discuss these practices
with your wrestler.

the chances of infection in our wrestling room.
We encourage everyone to educate themselves on this matter.
